E3 dissapointments

Safe to say this years e3 was less than riveting compared with what we were expecting.
Out of the three presentations i think Microsoft was the best one, with Sony tending to ramble and Nintendo just sort of, well...i don't know what they did...
Firstly Microsoft. Their presentation trailed of during the middle into less showy games and they spent far too long on the less than wonderful your in the movies, but with good in depth demos of games like fallout and GOW2 the conference was really a success. what was shown was new single player footage of RE5 GOW2 fallout Fable Star Ocean The last remnant Infinite undiscovered and (wait for it) Final Fantasy 13. YAY! Ill go over these in depth at a later date.
Nintendo however were not as stunning in my opinion as they failed to show off Kid Icarus Wii. As a gamer who's rarely tested by games something like KIWII starts me tingling as the original still gives me a good run for my money. However we got the latest addition to the wiisports franchise which seem OK but yet again doesn't really set me on fire. however the WII motion plus does look like we are reaching the 121 control stage. Animal Crossing City Folk looks like its about to claim another couple of hundred hours of my life (WW had me hooked untill 2months ago, my town was awesome) but not like its about to revitalize a franchise considered by many to be boring. BUT the wii speak peripheral does look like Ninty will finally give us voice chat for all future titles so thats good at least. however we didn't see a much lusted after storage solution. Its no longer a question of if but when? however it will not be now.
I didn't see Sony's personally so i cant comment on it but my friends impressions were not good. Also with the loss of yet another exclusive how will Sony`s third attempt at a console fair?

Assasins Creed

Today I returned to the much referenced Creed and its still as disappointing today as it always was.
The core game-play and the control scheme is still one of the best ever created which is intuitive and fluent, at times giving a true feeling of what it is like to be Altair.
However it is extremely repetitive and quite frankly boring in parts. the investigations are uninspired and citizens will repeat the same phrases over and over again. the plot is intriguing but the sort of "half cut-scenes" don't do it justice, which is such a shame because it really is great and morality is called into question more than once.
The next step for the team behind AC should be to create a free running game in the same vein as mirrors edge with minor combat sections, which would be quite frankly amazing. Also id like to take a sentence to blame he hype machine for turning the game into something its not, which would have left far fewer disappointed gamers if that element had been completely removed

War of the Worlds

Last night War of the Worlds was on BBC. My family hadn't seen it before but I had many many times so i was reluctant to watch it again.
I'm really glad i did now. It is one of those timeless classic films that seems to get better every time you watch. Tom Cruise portrays not a hero, but someone merely trying to do what he can in the face of insurmountable odds, a concept which many films have tried but failed in the process.
The film begins with Ray (Cruise) Taking the children for the weekend when the Martians invade. he then tries to reach his wife in Boston to return his kids. Theres very little i can say without spoiling some aspect or another of the film but safe to say its not only the alien war-machines that are a threat to the Family, and throughout the impact on humanity is conveyed, desperation, anger and fear.
well worth a watch if you haven't already seen it and if you have, well theres no excuse not to again.
And on an end note Dakota fanning s talent still puts many A listers to shame, and probably always will.
